December 1, 2013, marks the two year anniversary since Burning Lamp Featured Author, Zeke Lam, released his first book, subMISSION: heeding only His voice. We thought it would be worthwhile to catch up with Zeke on all that the Lord has done since the publication of this book; and, to find out what’s on the horizon for Zeke and his family.

1. What’s the biggest surprise since the book release two years ago?

So many surprises surface, but the one that shocks and impresses me the most is the vast people and regions which a book can impact. When I heard that copies reached Africa and Australia, I was stunned. When I heard that certain relatives read it, I was even more stunned. You just never know where the Lord may carry literature. With that in mind, I encourage you to write, write, and write!

2. What is the strangest story you’ve heard in relationship to your book?

The strangest things for me are the miraculous testimonies to pop up from nowhere. I prayed for one thing at the release of this book: “Lord, let it touch one life and it will be worth it all!” Now please don’t mistake me for small-mindedness because of that prayer. I prayed that way because I know the power of just one life touched by the mighty hand of God. With that being said, we have letter after letter and conversation upon conversation with people impacted from reading this book.

One particular text message however stole the show. A dear friend from Houston sent me a random text one afternoon that basically stated, “You’ll never guess what I ran into today!” He continued to say that while ministering to a homeless lady on a sidewalk, she spoke up concerning a good book she’d been reading. Concerned for what it might be, he asked to see the book. He was floored when out came subMISSION: heeding only His voice!

He sent me the picture and it blessed my soul. A million copies sold could never offer that kind of satisfaction.

3. Did you ever have someone turn down a free book that you offered them?

No. Although it is quite a challenge to sell the book, giving them away has never seemed to be an issue.

4. In hindsight, are there any mistakes you made that you would change as it relates to the book?

5. Are there any foreseeable books in the pipeline?

Yes. I am currently half way through another book in the “subMISSION” series that relates to idolatry. My goal is to see it published in 2014.

6. What are five books that you’ve read in the past two years that are must reads?

The Passion for Souls | Oswald J. Smith
Absolute Surrender | Andrew Murray
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit | R.A Torrey
Our Passion, God’s Power | Adam Meisberger
The D.C.D. | C.T. Studd

7. Who are some of your favorite authors?

I love to read from the thoughts and works of old school revivalists as well as current men of God. With that being said, Andrew Murray, Oswald Smith, David Platt, Francis Chan, D.L. Moody, and Adam Meisberger are among my favorite.

8. Who are your current favorite worship bands to listen to?

I love Jesus Culture, Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Jason Upton, and Bethel Worship.

9. What is your favorite place to eat out at with your family?

We love Chick-fil-A and Outback Steakhouse.

10. What is on the horizon for you and your family as it relates to future ministry plans?

We are currently laboring to plant a church in a suburb of Washington DC called Gainesville, Virginia. Our goal is to impact the Nation’s Capital with the gospel and raise up a body of Jesus followers that will forever impact this land. With the help of many brothers and sisters, including our sending church, Life Changing Ministries and Fellowship in Sugar Land, Texas, we have made great headway in two short months.

Burning Lamp Media & Publishing is excited to announce that our newest book—Crown & Throne: A Field Guide for Spiritual Revolution by Jon and Jolene Hamill—was released on November 21 at The Revolution 2013. Our newest Burning Lamp Featured Authors partnered with the Philadelphia Tabernacle of David to host this strategic gathering in conjunction with other leaders and ministries. It was an opportune moment to launch their pivotal book in such a setting: the historical Valley Forge battlefield just a stone’s throw away; and the backdrop of the original Continental Congress, which convened a short distance away in Philadelphia. For Jon and Jolene Hamill, it was a conference that they’ll never forget.

Concerning Crown & Throne, James Goll, Founder of Encounters Network, writes:

You hold in your hands a cutting edge tool to equip us all to move forward in this hour of history. Jon and Jolene Hamill are “burden bearers” for our times, positioned in Washington DC in the heart of the east coast. I commend to you the ministry of Lamplighter, and encourage you to drink deeply of the well of life presented here.

The book will be available in paperback and e-book via Amazon shortly. The paperback will also be available at The Arsenal Bookstore.

Books like a Compass

In life there are seasons when we’re headed in the wrong direction as we meander aimlessly. A book anointed by the Spirit of God can be the necessary catalyst to jolt us out of our spiritual apathy. Furthermore it can invigorate us to move in the direction of His leading wholeheartedly. Hence a timely book is like a compass for the reader, echoing Isaiah 30:21—“Your ears will hear a word behind you, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right or to the left.”

When was the last time you read a book that helped you immensely in discerning God’s will for your life?

Burning Lamp espouses three principles that we believe will allow our books to serve as a divine compass in the hands of the reader: Christ-centered; Spirit-saturated; Biblically-based.

“My books are my tools. They also serve as my counsel, my consolation, and my comfort. They are my source of wisdom and the font of my education. They are my friends and my delights. They are my surety, when all else is awry, that I have set my confidence in the substantial things of truth and right.”    Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892)

Our First Published Book

Post image for Our First Published Book

As the Founder and President of Burning Lamp Media & Publishing, I am thrilled to announce our first published book: SUBMISSION by Zeke Lam.

I personally know Zeke Lam and his family; thus I wholeheartedly “endorse” this man’s ministry. He desires to “live a life worthy of the calling” (Ephesians 4:1) that the Lord has bestowed upon him.

In an era where glitz trumps true repentance; shallowness is deemed as relevancy; flashiness is heralded as anointing—Zeke stands above reproach. SUBMISSION reveals the inward cry of Zeke’s heart: to see all men and women to surrender their lives completely unto the Lordship of Christ.

He’s a preacher who will stand on the corner of a busy city to proclaim the uncompromising message of the Gospel; he’s a friend who will drive a hour one way to spend but a short time in fellowship; he’s a husband and father who will do whatever it takes to be the man-of-God that he needs to be for his wife and children; he’s an evangelist who will travel to another nation to share the love of Christ with the poor and destitute;  finally, he’s a man who will drive four hours one way to minister to a distant acquaintance who is terminally ill.

In short, Zeke is a man compelled by the “love of Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:14).
